Accreditated Professional
As an accredited [APR] member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA),
Alicia has devoted many years of professional leadership to this organization,
serving three years on PRSA’s four-person North Pacific District board representing eight states, and five
years on the board of PRSA’s local chapter. Alicia is also preparing for certification as a Professional Facilitator with
the International Association of Facilitators, anticipating certification
status in April 2009.
Award-Winning Communicator
In 2003, Alicia firm’s was the first PR agency in the state to receive the Governor’s
‘Best of State’ Award in 2003 and in the firm’s 20th anniversary in 2007, won its 100th PRSA/IABC* Golden Spike Awards for its work. Alicia’s accomplishments have been recognized by Utah Business in its inaugural 2001 “30 Women to Watch”, and by the Utah Chapter of Women in Communications as the 1993 Outstanding Communicator/ Public Relations & Advertising. In 2006, she served as the Parry D. Sorensen Distinguished Lecturer for the University of Utah Communications Department. Annually, Bremer Pubic Relations has been recognized by Utah Business magazine as one of Utah’s ‘Top 25 PR Firms’.
Past Experience
Prior to founding Bremer Public Relations, Alicia served three years as public
relations director for Fotheringham & Associates (now Richter 7) and three years as vice president/director of public
relations services for Hal Gardiner & Associates, the PR division of Gardiner Marketing. At both ad agencies, Alicia
built the public relations divisions from the ground up, developing
comprehensive communications programs for a diverse mix of clients. She also
served for five years as public relations director for the Utah Travel Council,
managing the Council’s national and international media relations programs, assisting with tourism
lobbying efforts, and developing tourism promotion publications. She began her
communications career in 1977 as PR coordinator for the Ririe-Woodbury Dance
Company.
Alicia attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1973 where she received a BA
in Music Education and Vocal Performance and a Minor in Communications.
